Just checking with those who have taken the TVL Online Cource : what is the average time you spent to complete the lessons before you book the Excursion Date/Test Date?
Me need the license urgently but finding it stressful to memorise all the answers especially for Routes & Landmarks and Names & Locations of Buildings.Hope to have some enlightening clues.
I just gotten my VL recently so memory still there. Fastest, after orientation quickly go home log in then go thru 1st and finish quiz (remember it is open book quiz). Then follow 2nd... to the last except GPS (I fininshed in 4 hours). Book the excursion and it should be about 15 days away.
Then within these 15 days you need to study and memorize all 40 routes, landmarks, bldgs etc. *** it is for your own good bcos later on you will be travelling based on these 40-route structure, how you modify and go shortcuts/highways is experience. Some pax will give you landmarks and bldgs as written in the book.
Pay 100% attention during excursion! 7 days later will be on-line exam (this time close book no cheat otherwise will be banned). Routes are confusing when you see multiple choice questions; name of bldgs... landmarks are not difficult but takes time to retrieve from your brain.
Before sitting for the test, must go thru the on line course whenever u are free, no shortcut. I spents many hrs revising and the passing mark for some paper is 80%. Managed to make it in one sitting after putting a lot of effort. Not so easy...just be mentally prepared...good luck.
complete your on-line quiz with open book immediately after your orientation course. to do this is to book the earliest excursion available. than you start going thru the on-line quiz at your own time. keep repeating doing the route questions. highest failing rate is the route chapter.
use a recorder to record the lesson during the excursion. many answers will be revealed during the excursion.
i think i must be the bohiew type as i flopped the rules and regulations paper ..... for this one must remember all the time and $ figures right, other than that it is pretty commonsense ....
routes must study, but if u look carefully there are some similar patterns one, it helps u to remember if u can figure that out.
buildings & LM must pay attention during excursion, some hints are really useful, but then dun expect it to cover everything hor, a few test questions can be hopelessly ulu one (like transview CC, deaf skool), so just try ur best for the high-chance areas lor...
i chance upon this forum and it has been very enriching for me, with many practical advices and many tips from you guys. For a newbie like me, i have recently close my business so i am consider jobless/incomeless i am comtemplating on becoming a relief driver ,but have some reservations and quite blur on the procedures , would really appreciate if anyone can help me on these,
a) I have already send our the application letter to LTA to become a taxi driver. How long will it takes before i can get a approval?
b) I understand that i will be needed to go through a orientation, prior to me taking up a online course on the TVL, can any fellow experience forumers explain to me what is this orientation about? is it compulsory?
c) After the orientation, i will be able to take the online course, how can i register for it ? Can i register on it online ? or i have to go down to Comfort, as i will be looking at to become a Comfort Relief driver.
d) After the online course, i need to go for a excursion right? can anyone enlighten me on these as well ? What is the excursion about ?
e) Lastly after the application, orientation, excursion, i will need to take a test. Is this test a written test? or i can take it online ? f) how long will it take for the results?
g) After i clear all, how can i get the licence?
h) it seems that only SMRT has the page for online course registration, how about Comfort Cab? Does anyone know how to ?
I think i am a little bit long winded, pardon me for that, i really would appreciate any kind souls who can help me on these, and maybe some other newbies who are as blur as me ? its really helpful . The different taxi company didnt really have any details on these.
On a seperate note, i am just wondering if say, i am looking to be a Relieft driver, from say 4/5pm to 2am. Is it difficult to find a hirer?
OR i should just go straight to become a Hirer ? so i can drive say from 12 pm to 12am.? OMO
How long does it takes for a assignment of cab? Say sonata from Comfort?
Lastly, if i drive from 12-12, do you guys think that i am not being realistic if i am targeting a daily take home of about $150 per day?
I have failed my Exam... :( never study... and have booked another test date. Will the questions be the same??? or will it be different sets of questions? Any idea?
Not everybody make it in one go, must study if not very difficult to make it. The test paper even those with PHD, MBA will not be able to make it if they don't study.
