Its been 2 months already since i last posted a topic seeking advice from seniors here.. Just a update here though, its been 2 months and i am still in the process of getting a TVL..thats how slow it is man....in case anyone around need to know the timeline...
i send out the application on the 3rd of feb and i receive the LTA approval letter on the 22nd, after that i book my orientation on the 1st of April which is the earliest date i can get.. After orientation, i went for the excursion on the 12th of April, and the test on the 16th April but i failed my test..going for the retest on the 22nd April. By the way , i sign up my course with SMRT ... and thats the fatest i can find compare to Citycab's schedule. Seniors here can advice me on the following:
If say i heng heng pass my retest next week 22nd April, what is the procedure after that , ? to get the TVL? must i wait for LTA or what ?
SMrt told me that the issue of TVL is subject to LTA clearence, may i know what is this clearence about ? if any kind souls can advice
From the look of it, how long do you guys think i can be on the road? Have been doing nothing for the past months, really cannot take it ...
I am looking at driving 5pm to 5am night relief, is it easy to get a hirer?
Lastly, practical qns, do you think i can make at least $80-100 with that time slot? any tips and insights ?

anyway...we wish you all the best in your coming test...and do carry on loggin in here as you would learn alot from our bros

i dun hv to say abt d economic downturn; 30% less tourist arrival & cheaper public transport...ya it's hurting our pockets all right...besides u... many hv also join in the band wagon due to retrenchments
so at d moment supply of taxis is more than demand...u do your maths ok?
but dun worry we still hv 3 meals to bring home

Bro GT ,,, lying on the bed,,, and/or ,,, sitting in the kopi shop kpkb will receive no income !!! as long as u r on the road,,, $$$ will come in !! if U r sway on that day/nite ,, may be u get $5 for an hour of driving up & down to look for a pax ,,, but if u r heng , u may get $30 for an hour of driving !!! so ,, the key word here is .......... "U must on the road " !!!!! u must play this part !!! and how much U will be rewarded is up "experience" (this 1 take some time) & the the guy upstair !!! hahahahaha...,, GOOOOoooD Lucksssssssssssssssssssss !!!
Hi All Bros/Sis, I am a 60 year old newbie, just collected TVL from SMRT. Looking to drive a auto cab but SMRT says only autos they hv are Mercs and MPVs.
Called NTUC but told that to drive auto taxi hv to wait 2 or 3 months. Can you seniors out there advised what abt driving for Silvercab/Transcab as they seem to hv auto available.?
Chanced upon this website while surfing cabby.com, you guys are truly great always willing to share with newbies like me. Looking forward to hearing fr. you seniors.
u can choose any taxi u 1 2 drive if u can consider to drive as a relief for comfort. say if can find a sonata near your home, u dont need to wait for mths to start drving.
I am thking of starting off as a hirer preferably wit NTUC/CityCab, but if can find a hirer at Pasir Ris do not mind starting as relief. If you bros out there know of soneome looking for relief at PP pls pm me.
welcome to our forum...hope you'll enjoy your stay here...do post anything under the sun...our bros here are very friendly & willing to help newbies with problems
