A drunk man in his 40s was shot with a Taser gun by a policeman in Ang Mo Kio (Jan 7) after he approached a group of officers in a threatening manner with a

50cm-long metal rod on Saturday night (Jan 7). According to a report on The New Paper, the man had gone to his younger sister's flat in a drunken stupor

at Block 115 in Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4, and quarelled with his niece's boyfriend. The fracas then escalated into a fight after the man started throwing punches.

The police were called in by family members but the man ran away as officers arrived at the scene. The man was understood to have ran a distance about

400m before he was found. There, he reportedly approached the officers, with a 50cm-long rod in hand, in a threatening manner -- which led to him getting

tasered by the police. The man was then apprehended before getting taken in an ambulance to Khoo Teck Puat hospital.
