Body found in car that caught fire along Upper Bukit Timah Road

A body was found in a car that caught fire after it rammed into a concrete barrier at a junction along Upper Bukit Timah Road earlier this morning (Jan 20).
In response to a query from STOMP, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that they found the body in the driver's seat after putting out the fire at the front of the vehicle.
A spokesperson for the SCDF said:
"The SCDF received a call of a car fire at the junction of Hillview Road and Upper Bukit Timah Road at 5.15am. "One fire engine, one Red Rhino
and one ambulance were deployed. "Upon arrival, the SCDF found the fire well-alight at the front of the vehicle, and extinguished it within one minute.
"A body was found in the driver's seat. "The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Earlier, STOMPer Alvin sent in a picture of the car in a mangled
mess after hitting the barrier. In his report, STOMPer Alvin wrote: "Accident at the junction of Hillview Road and Upper Bukit Timah Road that happened
at 4.50am on Jan 20. "A fire broke out after that."
