SINGAPORE - The sense of foreboding got stronger as he approached the accident at the junction of Clementi Avenue 3 and Commonwealth Avenue West.
Mr Gong Jiangbin, 41, dialled his wife's phone number apprehensively, hoping to hear her voice on the other end on the line.
They had gone to Clementi Mall Tuesday morning and his wife had decided to return home 20 minutes earlier.
But what Mr Gong heard after calling her was a ringing sound coming from the road at the site of a horrific accident, reported Shin Min Daily News.
With a rising feeling of uneasiness, he went to investigate.
The scene that greeted him changed his life forever. His wife lay dead, her legs crushed, her body mangled in a pool of blood.
It is believed that she was hit by a bus and dragged for about 5m.
The police confirmed that she died on the spot. The incident is believed to have happened at about 7.35am.
Witnesses at the scene told Shin Min Daily News that Mr Gong broke down in tears after seeing the body.
