Just to check how many do follow the guidelines set by STA or LTA during we are trained to greet customer and asking their preferred route to go when they board the taxi?

Thanks
yes, asking for the preferred route is to protect ourselves.
Yes, I do ask cos they are paying. Many a times when they give directions, they will end up grumbling but its no longer my fault, so they pay the full fare (no discount for me). If i take a wrong turn, I will discount back for the excess distance.
As for greetings, I always turn around and give them a big smile. More so then never, they will smile back and greet back. Only once a while pax dont greet back, and these are usually the Singaporeans, sadly.
And I also wish them a good day/good holiday/good nite/pleasant flight/etc.
p.s. I dont see myself as a driver, I am providing a service. :)

I usually TELL them which route I will travel...If they prefer another route, they will tell me. Sometimes so obvious like going Changi Airport from Toa Payoh. No need tell, just go via PIE..
Like Chiku, I don't chat unless pax starts first. We need to sense the mood also. I ever asked pax if she was on her way to work. Pax Never answer. I just zip up my mouth and drive....

That's me also.. coming from service nice.. customer black face.. i still keep smiling at them lol
To add on, I dont chat with pax unless they chat with me even my regulars. Pax most likely wanna have a quiet peaceful ride, especially if its after work. And my understanding is that they absolutely hate it when cabbies talk politics....
There are times when I ask pax questions to fish info from them. e.g. Once I fetched 2 indonesian men to Penjuru in the evening. This is quite odd to me cos going to penjuru in the evening??? So i asked them questions like why so late still go work, etc? Then they told me that they are sailors and their ship was docked at Penjuru. I scared pax asked me go ulu places and I may put myself at risk....
