Just to make things clear first... 7.30pm ~ 12am = 4.5 hrs of rental --> $40/4.5 = $8.89
How come the rental is so high in the first place?

You said that you earned $50~70, excluding fuel. Do you refill fuel or your friend does? So what is your final profit after deducting everything?

ya, the rental is not reasonable. for an ordinary cab like sonata, its $5-$5.5 per hour for rental.
basically is the standard full rental divided by 24 hrs.

Actually I can drive till 3-4am. As you guys know, road alot of taxi but very little passenger till then.
I earn $45 yesterday from 8pm to 1am. Business was very bad, alot of cabbie and long long queue and very little customers..
on top of the fuel. I had to pump diesel.
so flat rate is $40 , plus top up diesel.by the way his car is epica so rental $123.

Yes, if just for fun, it is OK. But to make a living...why take the Monday - Thursday night shift? Pax are still not in the mood for party leh...unless I get lucky, normally I keep around 11 PM (as after this hour, it is tough to get pax). He also mentioned actually he can drive till 4 am but he rather not. So, the rental is actually $40 divided by 8 or 9 hours. Sounds reasonable but if it is for weekend, lagi best.....

The story is different starting Friday and Saturday.....So, I think it is just for fun driving also....

I got no choice as i also have a full time job.
This will be my part time job for weekdays.

But it is really tiring to drive from 7pm to say 12 mn.
u get home, sleep around 1am or 1:30am.

Next morning you have to wake up at 7am for work..

if the cycle repeats, very fast the body break down..

I am support 6 other family members plus myself..
Salaried only $3200 after deduction is around $25xx..

making me hell crazy..
