Thks all for the feedback, esp. the blind spots caution. I will definitely be on my guard during the first 1 or 2 months familiarising with the handling and safety aspect of the car.

Hi Bro DC, The sonata comes with 4 speakers in the door already installed with wiring at the dash. The radio installer will be able to install the radio with ease. As for a place to install to install cheap radio you can try the shop at toa payoh north that also does the taxi meter for silver cab. Forget what is the block and shop number. Maybe some other bros can help. The 12v outlet is definitely working. There are 2 in the cabin, 1 for cigarette lighter and 1 as power outlet. There is also an outlet in the boot. FYI, radio is not standard for all Comfort normal taxis, all need to be installed at hirer cost. When you collect your taxi, basically nothing much need to be done, just do a once over and make sure that everything is in order, especially the MDT, because high chances is the MDT will be a recycled one from a older scrape taxi, so just turn it on and logged in to make sure it is functioning, Cablink guys will be there to help if you got any problem. Also the reverse sensors is not standard for the sonata for all the past batches... They will be a fat guy going around asking if you would like to install them and he is also doing radio installation. So it is up to you to negiotiate the price with him. Thats about all I can remember, good luck and enjoy your ride...
Hi bro stkee, When u mention "The sonata comes with 4 speakers in the door already installed with wiring at the dash". Can you remember are all the necessary wires (speaker wires, power connector, radio antennae input) for the head unit readily accessable from the front dash din slot. I'm asking this cos i may go get a 2nd head unit outside n fix myself if all the wires are there to save some cost. I don't believe Comfort is so good to arrange a installer there to offer us "special price" for their product n services though i think the price for reverse sensor installation at $75 is reasonable and i will do it there.
Thanks.

There will be an installer there. If you intend to DIY, the sonata original radio wiring harnass in at the Din slot. The wiring code I have with me cause I installed my radio myshelf also. In fact, I have the software technical manual for the sonata if any bros are interested. I am a DIY persons as I was an auto engineer before. I got the manual from the distributor for about $50. Althought the engine in the manual is not our CRDI version. But all other stuff is the same.
The wiring colour code at the DIN slot for radio connection is as follow:
2008 Hyundai Sonata Car Stereo Radio Wiring Diagram Car Radio Constant 12v+ Wire: Gray Car Radio Switched 12v+ Wire: Orange/Black Car Radio Ground Wire: Black Car Radio Illumination Wire: Blue Car Stereo Dimmer Wire: White/Black Car Stereo Antenna Trigger: Green/Black Car Stereo Amp Trigger Wire: Pink/Black Car Stereo Amplifier Location: Under the driver side rear seat bottom cushion. Front Speakers Size: N/A Front Speakers Location: N/A Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Green Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Blue Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Gray Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Red/Orange Rear Speakers Size: N/A Rear Speakers Location: N/A Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Orange Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Pink Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): White Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Red
The connector provided is hyundai own connector and will not fit most radio. You will need to cut the wires accordingly and connecting them to your corresponding radio wire. The colour code is not the same also for radio and car. So you need to know which wire from your radio serves which function.
Wow, bro stkee u r indeed a very technical person. Thanks for the comprehensive info. I dun think i'm as good as u though, considering hyundai use their own connector type and i need to cut the wire myself. Sigh...think got to let the inhouse installer install the radio set.

Bro,
importantly is to not assume that the coast is always clear from your wing mirror.... always be slower to react n confirm that your right lane 1 or 2 lanes are clear of traffic b4 your steer....even if your vehicle is stationary and moving off..
Other than that ...it is a good car to drive ....you will enjoy it while making money...

I think the new facelift sonata u and the other bros saw few days back should be a trial run since i have not saw one of these on the roads for the past few days. Now i'm getting worry abt the skyrocketing fuel price. It seems like every week international oil prices will hit a new high and our pump prices are being adjusted upwards every 1 or 2 weeks, scary indeed. Hope all of us here can ride thru this bad period, esp. true if the prediction of a major recession does materialize.
