Bro YTD, if we take GPS as a reference tool then not much difference btw brands. GPS is annoying in eyes of taxi masters almost 50% recommended routes are silly enough kena scold.
We drive taxi we know every turn is critical, once passed the correct entry is very difficult to correct especially taking booking or else pax will take another cab since we are late. Passenger claims "if no rush why call cab, I give you 5 mins if can't see I take another one".
Encountered potential error last night, received booking while arround Newton MRT go 341 Bt Timah Honululu Twr at lobby. Aiya easy job, 5 mins sure reach so started the Holux 62 see what route it recommends....
Aaha, it fools me Bt Timah turn Left into Keng Chin Road destination . If follow it then die die snake lor, need go out Keng Chin to BT u turn Chinese Int Sec and round back Newton circle 5 mins sure late and pax may disappear. Use brain easier and cheap.
If really need a GPS for starting, Garmin + Jerome map is better in the way more suitable for taxi driver. It always leads me to the right entrance.
i got my china gps set only 180 niah... comes with sing, mal n thai maps.... very useful but only as a guideline....the intergration of human knowledge and gps helps me alot.... bro got ur cab le mah?

One big difference I notice is that the map from malsing although is updated but most of the buildings blk numbers and names are not updated. So far I am using the original map from mapking, and I am able to find 99% of all address with the buildings indicated on the map properly. I have even tried using postal codes provided by pax and found the buildings with no problems... But when I loaded the maps from malsing, I have problems locating the individual buildings because most of the buildings are not indicated and the area is just a blank space....
I guess the main difference is that we need maps that is detailed to the individual buildings whereas for the general public used, maps that shows the roads is good enough...
