Hi hammerhammer . I also driving Beach Rd Taxi at Geylang. How long have you been driving with them?
Bro I just pass my TVL getting it next week from SMRT. Haven't started yet. Still sourcing around. Seem like Beach Road Taxi is good cos I no need a lot of capital and also no contract so can have a feel first before deciding on going OMO. This Beach Road Taxi got how many branch? I know AMK got one. Care to share more about the company? No need contract right? Just pay $80++ for insurance ya? How long in advance need to confirm booking the taxi? Need to queue very long? Please advise. Thanks in advance
wonder the self installed GPS is it also provided by smrt???
i don't think PRC will be allowed. Permanent residents will be allowed first if the rule is ever wanted to be revised.
there is alot of safety and society issues to be considered if taxi license will be considered to give out to these people. can you imaging a foreigner visitor sitting inside a taxi with a foreign driver that doesn't know much about singapore or worst talking all the bad things about singapore since he doesn't belongs here?
Bro tu, tats wat happening in a lot of developed countries lei... USA, Australia, are two of them.
true, but first these people must comply to the stringent conditions. when i was in NY many years ago, i was told by the black taxi driver that they hv to be in the US for many years + a family that has a child or a family member tat has an american citizenship b4 they are eligible to apply and drive a taxi. for these, not many PRC here can match. unless he is already a PR. butif he is alreadya PR,it meanshe would either have alot of money, or a gd skill, or has a gd educational cert. and thus, these PRs dont really need to drive a taxi.
also, PR are NOT ALLOWED to drive a taxi for now.
so my conclusion is, PRC taxi driver is juz a piece of street talks.

Hi Bro, will try to answer as much as I know.
1) A few branches : a. Geylang Lor 1 ( that where I am now ) b. Bukit Batok Blk 100+ c. Yishun ( next to swimming pool )
2) The big Boss name is Ah Hock at AMK branch 3)No contract. No need deposit, just paid $80+ for insurance. 4) In AMK, they have Silver crown, kia, skoda. Smart crown and Kia Carens. In Geylang, they have Silver crown, kia and Smart crown. In Bukit Batok, same as in Geylang. In Yishun, I am not too sure but will def have Smart crown.
As long as they have spare slots, youcan drive anytime. But most will prefer full-time drivers rather than part-time one ( drive only 2-3 days a week ).

Thanks for the info bro.
Say if drive full time means what? Because I work shift work so only available to drive about 3-4 days a week. You know the rate? Take half shift and full shift got any discount? Full time rate cheaper? You driving full time or part time? I think this one mostly no call one right?
If you dun mind can PM me your contact and time convenient to contact you? Seem like you are the only guy in the forum driving Beach Road Taxi. Maybe I can catch up with you for a cuppa and find out more.
