Yes I agree it seems long.. will tweak my timing as I go along.. to see which is the best time slot...

I was thinking 8-5 was my usual work time and it should be good for me... then go home have dinner and see child a bit.... 8pm onwards to 2am usually I do nothing, either surf net / watch TV or go drink... so might as well spend it on earning money. :)

Chiong few yrs.. save up and cana relax a bit.... Now still consider young so hopefully can chiong.

it usually slower everywhere on week nites after 11pm.

so i suggest you start at 6pm to make full use of the nite surcharges.

Wow! super long hour for a newbie. So 2am to 8am is your rest time.
You sure you can sleep immediately ? Any other time slot to catch up lost sleep ?
Ever wonder why so many taxi drivers gathered at coffee shops and hawker centres after 10am ?

Get a regular pax everyday you start work, bring you to your desired spot. From there you start your second fare depends on luck.
Once rental is up, take a short break then do another 2 more hour, fuel and magan covered. Go home rest or do whatever you need.

Come out an hour before evening peak again, warm up then chiong. 5 hours, 6 hours.... depends how much you need to take home.
My suggestion throughout my years of OMO experience, a break is MUST every 3 hours, otherwise you will have problem in long run.

A few trick driving OMO:
Constant routine;
When fuel tank is less than half, try to top up as long as you are close to diesel kiosk.
Last trip always pick one send you home, in days where you can't find then highway all the way back.
Pay $4 wash car, don't ever try wash yourself. You pay $4 to gain minimum 45mins rest.

Advantage of OMO:
you have more time attending your activities other than driving taxi;
you may pick the best hours fill up your pocket;
no need to rush for changing shift.

Disadvantage of OMO:
usually much longer hour of work compare to half shift;
tiring no day no night;
income may be lesser than half shift if without proper planning.

In contrast to half-shift, OMO aim to hit target in terms of amount.
If $ not hit, die die chiong. Once hit, lock door go home.
Therefore, income for OMO drivers is usually quite constant provided you know how to control.
Never overwork! Money everywhere and anytime available, just like 7-11 you can't work 24 hours non stop. Enough is enough, tomorrow target tomorrow hit.

Wow... thanks for the many replies and advices..... sorry not reading the blog lately due to busy schedule.. on course and sick throughout....

I PASSED MY EXAM TODAY!!!! YEAH!!! Can start to cheong!!!

I will drive one week and see how it works out.. will take advices from you guys and work on the timing... Thanks so much.

A little about myself.... married, 1 boy (2yo), 1 more coming on March.. dunno the gender yet.

Why I chose such driving hours.. mm... because of family lor... morning send son to CC, then send wife to work, then I start work.

Evening pick son pick wife have dinner, "torture" my son a bit... then start 2nd round of work... that's my plan la... maybe too naive.. have to try out then will know.

I got no time for massage though... if can earn enough to keep my family afloat and fulfill my future plan I will be more than happy.

I went in to say halo.. then a guy "4D" welcome me and asked me to intro.. so I intro as just pass exam, joined parlingo from taxiuncle.com. forum... waiting for taxi coming within a month... then 4122 kick me out and said somthing like join only when on the road.... blah :s

Anyway when I joined many of the members sent me "voices"... some I catch it, mostly welcome message... but most of the "voices" I can't make out what was being said.. haha.... worst than listening to HF radio when I was in NS.... Pengz..
