First he taught us to cook, then he took his love for food (and education) to schools in England and the US, and now Jamie Oliver is setting up his signature restaurant, Jamie's Italian in Singapore at VivoCity.
Jamie Oliver fans will have to wait till the third quarter of 2013 to sample his affordable rustic Italian fare, but some things, we believe, are worth the wait.
Ths will be a partnership between the original TV celebrity chef and his mentor chef Gennaro Contaldo. It will also be Oliver's first restaurant in Asia - take that Hong Kong!
True to form, Jamie's Italian will be a family-friendly eatery. Pastas will be made on-site and daily, and there will be an antipasti station. Freshness and sustainability will also be a focus, Oliver intends to use many of the region's ingredients.
"I can¡¯t tell you how excited I am to be opening a restaurant in Singapore. I think VivoCity is a fantastic location and I¡¯m delighted to be able to bring the
Jamie¡¯s Italian experience to the people of this wonderful city. I¡¯ve wanted to open in Singapore for many years now and we¡¯re thrilled to be working with HPL who are fantastic partners.¡± said Oliver in a statement released to the media.
While we're still a year away, for a preview we hear they're opening up very soon in Perth.
