Taxi gets engulfed in flames near Jurong Lake Park

STOMPer Yew Lee came across a taxi which went up in flames along Yuan Ching Road near the Jurong Lake Park and sent in photos of his sighting.

The STOMPer wrote: "At around 8.40pm on Dec 16 2012, a taxi caught fire in front of Blk 335 along Yuan Ching Road."

SINGAPORE - A taxi caught fire in Yuan Ching Road in Jurong last Sunday night.

The taxi driver, who got out when he saw smoke coming out from the engine of the vehicle, was unhurt.

There were two explosions, and the stretch of road was sealed off by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

An SCDF spokesman said it received a call at 8.28pm and dispatched a fire engine and a Red Rhino fire vehicle to the site.

He added that the cause of the fire was being investigated.
