Think Chinatown's packed? It's really because these tables are in the way
STOMPer Chinatown Visitor found it slow-going making his way through Chinatown last night (Jan 5), and found it was because restaurants had set up tables on the pavement, narrowing the walkways there.

"I thought Chinese New Year shopping started early last evening when I was walking along New Bridge Road, near Mosque Street.
"The walkway was packed and human traffic flow was slow.
"As I inched my way through, I realized half the path was occupied by dining tables and chairs set up by the row of Chinese restaurants there!
"I wonder if the authorities had allowed such dining in a public space meant for the safety of pedestrians?
"I shrug to think of the situation and danger when the maddening crowd returns for Chinese New Year shopping soon!"
