STOMPer Sarah says her friend sustained scores of insect bites on her legs after they dined together on rattan chairs at a Thai restaurant at Clarke Quay.
The STOMPer wrote:
"I accompanied a friend to a Thai restaurant at Clarke Quay on Jan 23 to have dinner at around 8pm.
"We were seated near the riverside on rattan chairs. After less than 15 mins, my friend started to experience itchiness on her thighs.
"Initially, we thought that it was mosquito bites because of the alfresco setting, but it got to a point when she really couldn't take it anymore and requested for a seat change.
"It was during the seat change that I spotted the bites on my friend’s legs and I realized that they are definitely not caused by mosquitos.
"After the change of seat and applying some Tiger Balm on the bites, my friend felt better. But we did tell the waitress about this and was told that this was actually the second incident in two weeks.
"Soon after, we saw them take away the rattan chair that my friend was first sitting on. The images show the bites on her thighs. We counted 40 and more.
"The restaurant should make an effort to clean the rattan chairs more often instead of only taking it away after patrons complain.
"We shouldn't have to pay for dinner and still get dirty chairs that cause us scars."
