First of all, understand road layout then you may become a knowledgeable taxi driver. I am lucky because I have been working in highways design firm for decades, so entry/exit, crossfall, visible curve... all these are natural to me.
Each road is individual, don't mixed up with other roads connected. Why says so? When we are on the road, we are dealing with the road we are driving on, we may get lost if we don't know the name of next road at the upcoming junction.
Each road has STARTING and ENDING, it has connectors connecting other roads. You can enter this road thru all connectors, you can also exit at any connectors depends how you plan your route.
Example, MIDDLE ROAD, it is an independent road by itself. Starting from BEACH Rd, Ending at SELEGIE RD. In between this stretch, connectors are North Bridge Rd (one way), Victoria St (Dual way), Queens St (Dual), Waterloo St (Dual), Bencoolen (One Way), Prinsep St (Dual), Short St (one way), Selegie Rd (one way).
If pax need to go Parc Soveriegn Hotel, the road leads to this hotel is Short Street. So Short St is picked, Short St has 2 connectors, one Middle Road, one Selegie Road. You may pick Selegie or Middle Rd as your key road. If you come from CTE then Orchard->Selegie, if you come from sea front then Middle Rd. Both Selegie or Middle Rd end up lead you to connector with Short Street.
Try out all these at home or on the road, very soon, they all will join together in your brain, your hands will steer automatically, no need thinking, no more GPS, no more noise from pax.
