A LAMBORGHINI burst into flames about an hour after midnight yesterday after it crashed into a road divider along the Lornie Road flyover.
According to eyewitnesses, the luxury sports car, believed to be a Gallardo, spun out of control and hit the divider before stopping and catching fire.
There were visible tyre tracks stretching around 5m. The male driver and a passenger, who left the vehicle right after the crash, both watched on
as the car burned. The driver, who is in his 40s, was then arrested at the scene for suspected drink-driving. The vehicle was damaged beyond repair.
Based on listings on sgCarMart. com, a Lamborghini Gallardo can cost about $634,000 here, although higher-end models can cost much more than a million.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received a call at 12.55am yesterday, and dispatched a fire engine and a Light Fire Attack Vehicle to the scene.
The SCDF said that the flames were extinguished in 10 minutes using a fire extinguisher and a water jet.
