A breakdance teacher was jailed for two weeks yesterday for trying to pull a woman out of the back of a taxi in a road rage incident.
Felix Huang Sze Thian, 31, was driving along Rochor Canal Road last year when he overtook Ms Caroline Constance Lim¡¯s cab and moved into its lane, the court heard.
He then slowed to 20kmh C prompting cabby Ismail Kassim Bharoocha to toot his horn and flash his headlights at him. But Huang¡¯s car suddenly jerked to a halt, forcing the 65-year-old cabby to slam on his brakes.
Other motorists started to sound their horns because the two vehicles were obstructing heavy traffic at about 8.15pm on Sept 27 last year, said Deputy Public Prosecutor Benny Tan Zhi Peng.
Huang then got out of his car and approached Mr Ismail, who had wound down his window and started shouting at the cabby, accusing him of cutting dangerously into his lane earlier.
In the midst of the commotion, Ms Lim used her iPhone to take a photograph of Huang as he was confronting the cabby. The iPhone¡¯s camera flashed, attracting Huang¡¯s attention.
He then opened the passenger door and shouted: ¡°Who say you can take my picture?¡± He then grabbed Ms Lim¡¯s right arm and tried to pull her out of the taxi.
Huang admitted to forcefully grabbing Ms Lim¡¯s right arm and had a second charge of punching the cabby twice in the arms taken into consideration, but told the court that he had met the cabby after the incident and apologised to him.
He had been a pioneer of breakdancing crew Radikal Forze since 1998.
