For the moment, no yellow top taxi. All fully booked.
Then they will ask where you staying then they will mentioned a certain location and ask what time and day u want.
They also asking me to take silver taxi.

Starting when speaking, they don't sound friendly but when i also sound boring and uninterested when they tell me so many rules etc, suddenly they become keen and friendly back :P

Hi folks,

Finally manage to get the information.
Need to pay $115 to Permier for Insurance / TAXI Pass.
Attn 2hr taxi course (how to opt taxi).
$48 for manual & $58 for Auto (car make : KIA)

If accident happen (whichever right or wrong) u need to pay $1,605 to Permier (can pay by installment).
They will return back the amt if you are not in the wrong.

Pls collect me the above infirmation if I'm wrong.

As a very bur guy like me w/o any knowledge of road. Do u guys think I should start off w day or night shift.
Just tot of trying during my leave / Sat /Sun.

drive nite shift is easier if you have poor road direction becos most of the pax are going home at nite and they can guide you.

do not pick up pax from airport becos the pax there might be a tourist and they cant help you. smile

I just like to add on with certain points:

- are you more familiar with working areas like office towers & buildings (more for day), or housing area (50/50)?

- do you mind picking up drunken pax and you can handle them well (more for night)?

- do you mind bringing the taxi for service maintenance (for day shift drivers, and if it falls on your driving day)?

- do you prefer sunlight (for day) or cool weather (for night)?

- does your family members mind about you driving in the night shift?

Of course, like taxiuncle had advised, based on your last sentence, it is much better for you to go for night shift if you have very little knowledge on road directions. For me, I'm a super town idiot (and I really mean it, especially for shenton areas. lol) and thats my main reason to go for night shift. hahabiggrin

@ taxiuncle: true enough. if its tuas still ok for me cos lucky i was working in tuas for 12 years previously.biggrin

@ essilor: maybe you can consider invest in a GPS. if not, you also can use the google map or any handphone navigation apps.

do not worry so much until you really go and try it out, from the mistakes then you can see you need to improve in which area. it is good for you to try out both day & night shift. don't give yourself too much stress. cheers ^_^

Today went down to Premier to pay $115 insurance and manage to found out some very useful information from the customer service.
She mentioned that once payment is make and no refund even I decide to cxl on the spot.

So i chat with her abt the "Beach road Radio Taxi service" offer as and when I need to drive as I'm a newbie and no idea on location.
She told me that they have alot of driver's waiting to drive over the weekends and hard to get available TAXI for relief.
She also told me to go back and think abt it before decide to take up the deal.

So I rushed to "Beach road Radio Taxi Service" to found out more info.
Answer "YES"..... normally weekends very hard to get coz they will reserved for their regular customers unless weekdays.... no problem.

Just happened to found out this information :-
New rules to stop TAXI subletting (News dated 03-Aug-2013 found from google) also News for "EOL of Beach Road TAXI".

Remaks :-
The LTA has set down a set of new rules that prevent cab operators from subletting their TAXIs to unregistered operators.

Aft going through.... I'm lost now.

Any good advise what can I do now.....
Thks

why dont you juz get a permanent cab from premier?

if not, ask them if beach road taxi is allowed to sublet their taxi? check the risk...smile

I guess the best option still goes to be a weekend relief driver of a hirer near your house. no need for you to go far away & you can get to drive within few minutes after you step out of your house. hehe
