nowadays not only the old names, even chinese names of streets & buildings also need to remember... I often kena asked to go to whatever place in chinese names by china national. Lucky enough, most of the times saved by palringo members but only once, and first time in my cabby's life, ask the 4 thai national ladies to get down & take another cab (of course in a very nice tone).
First, they asked my in very broken english, saying they want to go thai pub. I asked which one, what street name or which building. They got no idea... Then one of them, at the rear seat, told me to go 海边(beach or seaside in mandarin). I replied there are quite a few beach in Singapore. She told me off: aiya, english u dunno, chinese u oso dun know, how to talk?!
It was at Parklane, wasted 5 mins of my time. No choice but to ask them to get down & take another cab. One of the members saw me when he pass by & thought I was in trouble. True enough, I got trouble trying hard to understand where they wana go. lol
wah! you so nice? i almost kicked one ATB out of my cab cos she kept blabbering and told me go chap lao. i told her i dont know where is chap lao. (much later then i realise its circuit road). I got so fed up i kept jerking my cab. at the end, she realised i angry, she thanked me when get off cab. LOL! Honestly, PRC not exactly my fave pax.
