Wow, it's a good thing you didn't send her to Boon Lay. She probably liked you. Maybe you're too handsome.
Someone told me that he sent his pax to Jurong instead of the proper destination in the eastern side. I forgot the road name. The pax was very furious.
Today I sent a pax to Senja Road. When he give me the destination, I ascertain the place by asking "Bt Panjian?". He said its a good thing I asked cos the other day, a taxi driver sent him to St George! LOL!
Once, I picked up a lady. She said "Fernvale". I asked her "Fernhill at Orange Grove Road?". Thank goodness I asked.
Today I picked up a family of 4 tourists from Botanic Garden, Pax said ParkRoyal Hotel then he said go by Ophir Road and Rochor Road. I thought I heard Parkway Parade, Hotel Excelsior (or something sound like it) So I double comfirm Parkway ? He said yes. So I drove till about close to Moutbatten Road, I thought I should just check where the hotel is ( for I never heard of such hotel, thought it might be a new hotel), and as expected I can't find it around the park way parade area. So I turn around to ask Pax how to spell the name. Then realised I had heard him wrongly.
I reset meter as compensation, with apology for the mistake and for wasting his time. Pax pay a little more than the final meter fare.
If the location rings a bell to a few similar pronunciation but of different location, carry on asking for nearby street names or landmarks, so as not to send them to the wrong location. It's never wrong to re-confirm their destination. It do benefits both the pax & you. Sometimes I even "act blur" and ask them "I'm sorry but where is this place you are going to?" Let them think you are new rather than give them a chance to complain you for "taking wrong route".
As for dav, next time if you take tourist pax, remember that they are not locals. They may think the location you are confirming with them, is another way of addressing the place. What you can do is that let them know you are unsure, and ask them for their room card/key. Usually there are address on the card. This way you will definitely not bring them to the wrong location. (unless they gave you an old card that they visited last year :p)
There r a few Parkroyal hotels. Beach rd, Pickering St and Kitchener rd. So, it's best to confirm. The other location is Botanic Gardens. There r a few entrances. The main one on Cluny rd, one opposite Taman Serasi and one at the back along Tyersall Ave and Jacab Ballas Children Gdn nearer Bt Timah side.
