To all old birds, any1 can advice on newbie to take up as hirer? during e course, many ppl say start off as a relief 1st cos afraid cannot cover e rental, not use to it, and so on. But I will like to hear it fr current cabbies instead. Is there any gathering so newbies like me can make more cabby friends and seek advice from.
hI is best to built your network during your TDVL days and when u sign up with any of the cabby companies there will be classes again, so make friends from there. If you are confident you can make good figures after taking out the daily investment then go for it. ;)
I had a same feeling like others newbie. worry about rental and income. But lucky I had a friend can help me to be his relief on weekend, he told me to try up first and to get a hang with it.
I had drive about 5 weekend now 9am till 6pm, so far so good i can cover my cost (rental $45 + gas $30) and i got $80 to earn a living now. I remember when i had my first ride, I am worry about the route. Lucky customers share with me how to reach their location.
After a few ride, I am planning to be a Hirer soon. Now waiting for transcab Vehicle (Wish).

Yes, like what Rom has said...there is another group called Taxiuncle.
The way to join is to download the Palringo App from Playstore to experience the group information sharing app which works just like walkie talkie too. The version from Playstore is kind "too new" due to some bugs which allow only auto playback at its whims and fancies. When you join some members can help you download the correct app (I do not have it anymore due to my phone micro-SD card problem recently).
After downloading the Palringo App, search for www.taxiuncle.com (Not the one icon that belonged to Beach Road Taxiuncle) and click on the tab itself. Once you click on it, the information to join will appear. You can then do the same introduction by typing and can listen to fellow taxi drivers teaching you how to proceed further. Of course, joining them for coffee would be great so that you can learn more and become more proficient.
