Some grabtaxi drivers were put on an "Assigned jobs" trial. Drivers were assigned jobs. No bidding required. Jobs priority given. I am on the trial. Tentatively, it will go on for 1 more month.
To qualify for incentives (a paltry sum), acceptance rate of 60% required. Cancellation rate less than 10%. I chose to forgo the incentives.
1 month in, I see some benefits. You do away with incessant biddings. During off peak hrs or after midnight, there's a good chance of an unexpected meaty ping.
Trial for 1 more month. I believe grabtaxi has in mind for a full implementation. Anyone on this scheme? Your thoughts?
